French Fries


Ingredients:

Potato - 4
Rice flour - 1 tsp
Corn flour - 1 tsp
Oil - to fry
Salt - to taste

Method:

Hey I can hear you saying 'Idhellam too much ah illa?' but for the matter of fact there is a simple yet effective method of making french fries crispy and tasty just like the one you get in sweet chariot or such posh places. And I am putting this one down to let you know the little secret. :)

Okay it goes like this. Dice potatoes into long pieces (tats how french fries are meant to be.. so no creativity here). Now soak them in a bowl of ice cold water for about ten min. This will make the potatoes stiff and strong. Now take them out and wipe them with a clean cloth making it dry. Take a small plate and put the corn flour and rice flour in it and add few drops of water and make it into a paste consistency. Now you have to apply this paste very lightly on the potatoes(I really mean VERY LIGHTLY. We are not making bajji here. so be careful with this coating). Once done fry it in oil bringing it to light golden color. Add salt to it now. Your french fries are done. I am sure you will find it crispy and extra yummy now. :)

  1. My home made fries never came out crispy. So I stopped making them at home. I will give this a try though.
